Treasurer challenged to a debate - why is Aird hiding?
Economic strategy and financial management are amongst two of the key areas of debate during this election campaign.
Therefore, today I am challenging the Treasurer, Michael Aird, to a debate on economic and financial policy.
After nearly three months of hiding it’s time for Michael Aird to stand up and be accountable for his continual blundering and stuff ups – water and sewerage, land tax, his ambulance tax and the failed sale of TOTE key amongst them.
Tasmanians have a right to know how both major parties will manage the economy during the next four years.
With the election finally being called, Tasmanians deserve an opportunity to hear about and discuss the financial policies of both major parties so that Tasmanians can compare and contrast them.
If Michael Aird isn’t up for a debate it can only mean one of two things. Either he is in hiding after his disastrous performance as Treasurer, or it has been decided that should Labor form government again, Mr Aird will not be reappointed as Treasurer in favour of Lara Giddings.
I am happy to debate Michael Aird anywhere, anytime during the lead up to the election.
