Labor blows the spendometer

Today’s TCCI Spendometer shows that Labor is recklessly spending more than even the fiscally incompetent Greens.

On 13 February, Lara Giddings made the fateful statement that “we (Labor) will be promising less than the Liberal Party”. Ms Giddings has egg on her face as it’s now clear Labor will struggle to promise less than even the Greens.

So far the Liberals have committed a fiscally responsible $362 million and the Greens have promised an excessive $452 million, while Labor has made a stunning $474 million in promises.

Lara Giddings must now either admit she had no idea what she was talking about back in February or that she was deliberately misleading Tasmanians.

The fact is that Labor is throwing money around in a last-ditch attempt to cling on to power. This is not the way that our finances should be managed.

Tasmania’s economy still faces a number of challenges and we need a disciplined, responsible government to drive our economy. Labor wants to drive our economy onto the rocks. Only a majority Hodgman Liberal Government can manage our economy properly.
