Failing water and sewerage infrastructure hurting Tasmanian families

Tasmania’s failing water and sewerage infrastructure is hurting Tasmanian families.

The Economic Regulator has already said this year that water and sewerage infrastructure is deteriorating faster than it can be fixed.  Today, we saw what that means to Tasmanian families.

I was appalled to hear Sam Ferguson’s story.  Sam lives at Mountain River, where the water is so bad, he’s concerned his young children will get sick if they swallow any of the water while they’re having a bath.

Tasmanians are fed up with third world infrastructure and we need to step in to fix the problem once and for all.

Unfortunately, Labor is against our plan to fix Tasmania’s water and sewerage infrastructure, which means that under Labor, people like Sam would have to wait longer for the State’s failing water and sewerage infrastructure to be fixed.

Our plan will fix the infrastructure sooner and keep prices lower.

Our plan has the support of:

  • The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • The Tasmanian Hospitality Association
  • The Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania
  • TasCOSS
  • The Property Council
  • The Tasmanian Small Business Council
  • The Master Builders Association

Most importantly, our plan has the backing of the broader community.
