MyState Update reports strong economic growth

The latest MyState Tasmanian Economic Update confirms that the Hodgman Liberal Government’s long term Plan to stimulate the economy and create jobs is working.

The MyState Update recognises this effort, and noted the State delivered economic growth for the last 16 consecutive quarters.

“Regional centres, workers and home owners have been the big winners as the benefits of Tasmania’s continuing growth have increasingly flowed through, the latest MyState Tasmanian Economic Update shows.”*

Tasmania’s unemployment rate is currently 5.9 per cent, down 1.6 percentage points since the election and there are more Tasmanians in work with around 8,400 new jobs created since we came to office.

These results come on top of yesterday’s ABS statistics which showed Tasmania’s retail sector has recorded 31 months of consecutive growth.

The Government is continuing to focus on economic and jobs growth with the recent State Budget including initiatives to support 7,600 new jobs for Tasmanians.
