Spendometer update - Day 12

Labor has redlined the spendometer after just 12 days on the campaign trail.

You simply can't trust Labor with money.  Last time they were in government they trashed the State's finances, delivered Tasmania's biggest ever budget deficits and had to cut $500 million from health, fire 287 nurses and 108 police officers and try and close 20 schools.

There's no doubt history would repeat itself under another Labor-Green minority, because already Labor is refusing to commit to a budget surplus, unlike the Liberals.

In addition to that, Ms White has also revealed that she doesn't even understand the budget when she mixed up recurrent and capital spending.  If you can't understand a budget, you certainly can't be trusted to manage one.

The Liberals are committed to budget surpluses each and every year over the forward estimates and Tasmanians know that we can deliver, because the Hodgman Government has delivered the best budget outcomes in ten years.

As at midnight last night the spendometer is as follows:

Labor has committed to $357 million in recurrent spending and $508 million in capital spending over the forward estimates.

In contrast, the Liberals have committed to just $125 million in recurrent spending and $453 million in job-creating capital spending.
