I can confirm that the Government has taken advice from a range of sources, including the Solicitor-General and Treasury, regarding TasWater and the proposed TasWater takeover.

We are confident that our Plan can be implemented lawfully.

I note that the advice released by TasWater today is at best highly speculative.

It would be surprising if TasWater or the 29 councils that own TasWater wanted to spend ratepayers’ money fighting against cheaper water prices.
